SELLING TIPS

Don't forget that after you have made your jewellery masterpiece you will want to display it and present it to your customer in the best way possible.

If you sell through craft fairs remember that the viewing public would probably have seen other tables with jewellery on so yours has to stand apart from theirs. To begin, look at their tables and think about what you have seen. Are there too many items on the table which makes the complete table look messy? Remember, less is more!

Use a neutral cloth to dress the table. Lighting and mirrors add a professional finish. Have you considered draping your jewellery over old and gnarled logs? This can create a stunning effect.

Now I want you to consider something that you probably haven't considered before ... PERSPECTIVE! What does perspective have to do with selling jewellery? (I knew my years of art history study would come in handy one day!).

Take a look at the picture below:

picture rubens

Perspective draws the eye into a picture. Here, RUBENS has used dark and heavy colours in the foreground. In the middleground he uses lighter tones with yellows greens and blues and in the farground the colours are light and create space and distance.

Now, think of your table. You want to draw people "in" to your table so try puttng heavier jewellery at the front of the table .. lighter in the middle and delicate nearest to you at the back of the table.

Rubens has used a tree and a farm scene to one side so you could copy this style.
